POP-UP PORTRAIT SESSIONS LOCATION INFO
In order for me to offer the special POP-UP PORTRAIT SESSIONS and rates, clients are scheduled one after the other at one location chosen by me. I also do things a little differently with these sessions and do not include locations at the same time I announce dates, instead location details are released closer to shoot day.
Since I’m blessed to have many repeat clients, I like to wait and see who books when in order to then, if possible, try to vary the locations so clients don’t end up at the same place in back-to-back years. Again, this is not always possible, but I do try my best.
There are other reasons I prefer to wait to decide on locations, like being able take into consideration the fickle fall Texas weather and pick an appropriate spot. Same thing for choosing locations that are good for families with differing needs, like those with very young kids versus older kiddos and teens.

Many longtime clients who return each year find that simply taking the photos is more important than where they are held as they know we’ll get great photos wherever we go.
Clients have also told me they appreciate not having to worry about choosing a location and can instead focus on finding a date/time that works for their busy schedules or figuring out what to wear or you know, they just like not having to add one more thing to their long to-do lists.

In addition to the many reasons why I wait on locations, there are other factors I consider… what’s the parking situation like and is it free? are there permit or admission fees? how busy is it? is it convenient for clients to get to? what’s going on around town and will it affect a location or getting there?
Over the years, I’ve never had any problems doing it this way, and if you have a location suggestion or wish, I encourage clients to share them with me and I’ll do my best to fulfill them if I can.

Please let me know if you have more questions about locations. Below are some examples of locations we might be shooting at.
UT campus
Often people think of the iconic UT tower when I suggest going here, but the campus has so much more to offer than that. Beautiful architecture, well-landscaped grounds, a great greenhouse — there are so many lovely little spots we can use. Good for sessions morning or evening, but usually avoid it on football game days.
St. Edward’s University Campus
Just like the UT campus, the St Ed’s campus in south Austin also has great buildings and beautiful grounds all in a small area. In the springtime, there are even wildflower fields. Good for morning or evening sessions.
Garrison Park
I love this little neighborhood park in south Austin. Plenty of space, full of beautiful trees, and lots of greenery, plus a playground, this is a great spot, especially for young families. Good for morning or evening sessions.
Circle C Ranch Metropolitan Park
This large park in far south Austin has it all — live oaks, golden fields of tall grass, scrubby brush and cacti, trails, even a few wildflowers — making it a great location for any session, but it’s especially popular in the fall. Good for morning or evening sessions.
South Congress
The vibrant setting of South Congress is a great location for those looking for an urban feel for their session. Lots of different little spots to capture. Best for mornings sessions.
Seaholm Power Plant
The historic former power station’s art-deco style provides a lovely, modern, urban setting for a session. Best for mornings sessions.
